EOU Falls in Exhibition at Whitman

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Eastern Oregon men's basketball team was defeated in an exhibition game, 118-73, on Saturday night at Whitman College.
 
The Mountaineers shot nearly 46 percent from the field in the game and held the Blues to under 42 percent, but free throws and fouls once again proved key in downing EOU.
 
EOU finished the game with 28 personal fouls to Whitman's 16, giving the Blues 36 chances from the charity stripe. Whitman turned the opportunites into a 29-10 advantage in points from the free throw line.
 
The Mounties were also severly outrebounded 43-27, including 16-3 in offensive rebounds. The Blues turned their second chances into points 21 points, reflected in 19 more shots taken. EOU also turned the ball over 31 times.
 
Sophomore Jordan May led the offense with 18 points, adding five assists and five rebounds. Junior Joel Anderson added 14 points while junior Landon Jones led the team with six boards.
 
Eastern Oregon (5-7, 1-1 CCC) returns to Cascade Collegiate Conference play on Saturday, visiting Northwest Christian in Eugene, Ore., at 6 p.m.
