Men’s Soccer Earns Second-Straight 2-2 Draw at Evergreen

OLYMPIA, Wash. – For the second match in a row, the Eastern Oregon men's soccer team would have to settle for a 2-2 double overtime draw, earning a point in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings at Evergreen on Sunday.

With the score tied 1-1 late in the match, junior Carlos Solorio found the go-ahead goal in the 80th minute, tallying his team-best sixth goal of the season. Just minutes later, however, the Geoducks (6-2-2, 3-2-2 CCC) tied the match in the 85th minute on a header by Quinn Landrud off a corner kick to force overtime.

The Mounties (5-3-4, 3-2-3 CCC) had a 5-3 advantage in shots in the overtime periods, but could not find the golden goal as both teams earned a point.

After the Geoducks opens the scoring in the 22nd minute on a goal by Marcos Borja, senior Josh Goodman answered in the 29th minute with a header goal off a cross by Solorio. The goal was the first of the season for Goodman.

Evergreen had the advantage in the first half, leading EOU 11-5 in shots. The Mountaineers picked up the pace of play in the second half, evening the shot total at 10-10 in the latter 45 minutes. The Geoducks held a 24-20 lead in shots for the match.

Senior keeper Aidan Wright made five saves for the Blue and Gold. Solorio led the team with six shots while Goodman had four and three on frame.

With ties in three of the last four matches, the Mountaineers will look to get back into the win column next week on the road in Portland, visiting Multnomah on Friday at 3:30 p.m. and Warner Pacific on Sunday at 11 a.m.
