Men's Soccer Dominates Lions 4-1

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon men's soccer team defeated the Multnomah Lions 4-1 Friday night in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.

The Mountaineers (6-3-4, 4-2-3 CCC) find themselves in the win column for the first time in October after tying three of their last four matches. Their four-goal performance is tied for their highest total in a game this year, recording the total previously against Carroll College on September 16.

Multnomah (3-9, 1-7 CCC) loses their fifth-straight conference game, being outscored 21-3 over that span.

In the last three matches for Eastern Oregon, they have found the back of the net eight times, the most in any three-game stretch of 2018.

Scoring kicked off in the 23rd minute when freshman Connor Young put one past the keeper. The Mountaineers were able to score again in the first half, on a goal by senior Ethan Ronquillo in the 44th minute. Ronquillo finished inside the box, beating the goalie to the left side of the net.

Freshman Cristian Miramontes opened up scoring in the second half to give the Mountaineers a 3-0 advantage. Multnomah was able to get one goal back in the 64th minute, their lone goal of the match. Freshman Michael Ebel finished out scoring for EOU, coming off a cross from Young.

The Mountaineers outshot the Lions 22-8 in the game, and had 11 shots on target compared to Multnomah's four.

EOU was able to dictate the pace of play, and put together one of the most impressive performances of the season for the team. The Mountaineers will look to build on this performance going into the final stretch of the year, finishing the regular season with Warner Pacific, Northwest Christian, and Walla Walla.

EOU men's soccer will stay in the Portland area for a matchup on Sunday with Warner Pacific at 1:30 p.m. The Knights are 2-4-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action this season.
