EOU Grabs Another W on the Road Against Evergreen

OLYMPIA, Wash. - The Blue and Gold finished their weekend in Washington with a perfect record of 2-0 with this Saturday's win against the Evergreen Geoducks. The volleyball team improved its record to an overall 19-5 and 14-5 in conference, defeating Evergreen in four sets 28-26, 20-25, 25-21, and 25-20. This is the Mountaineer's fourth straight victory and 14th in the last 15 matches.

The four-set match was close with each set being in the 20's for both teams. The first set was the closest by far with each team fighting for their two point victory. The Mountaineer's got the one up at 27 points and closed it out at 28-26.

Evergreen started off the match with a solid lead at 13-8, leaving EOU to fight their way back into the competition. The second set was claimed by the Geoducks as they used their home court advantage to take a set off of the Blue and Gold leaving the match score at 1-1.

Gaining fire for the third set, EOU came back stronger taking the third set over Evergreen by a 25-21 score.

The fourth set was critical for EOU. Falling behind early at 6-1, they took a timeout giving them the time to focus on the set at hand. Gaining control again at 16-12, the Mountaineer's finished the fourth and final set out at 25-20.

Juniors Megan Bunn and Hailee Ackerman each tallied 14 kills to lead the offense. Bunn had a monster game overall with a double-double that included 24 digs, adding five block assists.
