Box Score CALDWELL, Idaho - The No. 7 Mountaineers extended their winning streak to an incredible 15 games, defeating College of Idaho 91-57 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play on Wednesday.
The Mounties (21-2, 14-0 CCC) started the game slow, but found their groove in the second quarter. Senior forward Stormee Van Belle led the Blue and Gold with a career-high 28 points as a Mountaineer and seven rebounds. Junior guard Maya Ah You-Dias supported her with 18 points, six assists and seven steals. This was the second highest individual steal total of the season in the CCC.
It was a slow first quarter for the Mounties, as they scored nine points in the first 10 minutes. The slow start didn't seem to faze them as they scored 34 points in the second quarter on 62 percent shooting. The defense ignited the offense as the Mounties scored 15 points off of turnovers.
The Blue and Gold stayed hot in the second half, outscoring College of Idaho (4-14, 4-8 CCC) 48-28, shooting 55.6%. The Mounties extended the lead up to a game-high 36 points in the fourth quarter.
Senior guard Reece Bauer chipped in with 11 points and six assists while seniors Payton Parrish and Mariah Swanson each pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.
Alyssa Case led the Yotes with 17 points and four assists while Sophia Jackson had seven rebounds.
The Mountaineers stayed unbeaten in conference play, increasing their record to 21-2 and 14-0 in the CCC. After getting the weekend off, they will be coming home next to face Northwest University on Feb. 2 at 5:30 p.m. for EOU's Wear Red Night in support of heart disease awareness.
