EOU Men’s Soccer Blanks Walla Walla, 3-0

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The EOU men's soccer team notched its first conference win of the season against Walla Walla, defeating the Wolves by a 3-0 score Tuesday night.

In total, EOU (4-1, 1-0 CCC) outshot the Wolves (0-4, 0-3 CCC) 37-11, putting 19 shots on frame.

Senior forward Julian Wells got the Mounties on the board first in the 21st minute scoring off an assist from fellow junior forward Aldo Rivas. It was Wells' first tally of the 2017 campaign. Keeping its foot on the gas pedal, EOU pressured the Wolves and one minute later, senior forward Fredy Rodriguez launched a shot directly off the post, nearly making it 2-0.

The Mountaineers rocketed six more shots before the 45th tick, forcing the Walla Walla keeper to come up with six saves. EOU headed into the intermission holding a 1-0 lead.

In the 52nd minute, Wells went for the brace but was denied by the keeper. After sophomore defender Jorge Chavez's header went high, sophomore forward Micah Hill dribbled past a few defenders in the box and struck a shot into the bottom left for his first goal of the year.

In the second half, the Mounties launched a total of 17 shots, while holding the Wolves to just five. Senior forward Fredy Rodriguez tallied the final goal for EOU in the 72nd minute off well-placed through ball from Rivas to find the back of the net.

In the box, junior keeper Aidan Wright played 77 minutes and recorded four saves.
