No. 17 EOU Women’s Basketball Hosts Corban Tuesday Night in CCC Quarterfinals

LA GRANDE, Ore. – For the sixth-consecutive season, the No. 17 EOU women's hoops team will host a quarterfinal matchup in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank.

The Mountaineers (25-4, 18-2 CCC) will battle seventh-seeded Corban on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. After sharing the regular-season title with Southern Oregon, EOU earned the No. 2 seed and the automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship on a coin flip.

EOU AT A GLANCE
EOU will be shooting for its first CCC Tournament Championship since 2012-13 campaign when the Mountaineers went 33-3 and a perfect 21-0 in conference action. The Blue and Gold hasn't faced Corban in the CCC Tournament since that same year, as the Mountaineers topped the Warriors, 81-67.

This season, EOU went 18-2 in conference play and currently rides a 10-game winning streak. The Mountaineers have been simply dominant at Quinn Coliseum, boasting an 11-0 record with an average margin of victory of 29.5 points.

Junior guard Maya Ah You (Dias) leads the team in scoring with 12.89 points per game, while junior forward Stormee Van Belle hauls down a team-best 5.93 boards per contest. EOU ranks third nationally in scoring defense (55.24) and fourth in total rebound margin (11.31). Junior sharpshooter Payton Parrish nails 47.4 percent of her three's (fourth in NAIA), and senior forward Ashley Knight has posted double-figure scoring in six of the last eight games.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
Corban enters Tuesday's matchup with an overall record of 14-14 and 8-12 in CCC play. The Warriors ended the 2016-17 regular-season losing five of their last six, including a 21-point setback to Southern Oregon on Sunday.

Maddey Pflaumer has led the team this season with 16.6 points and 7.2 boards per contest, while Sadie Pilgeram nets 11 points per game and shoots 82 percent from the charity stripe. Maci Benedict has drilled 60 three-pointers this season and leads the squad with 111 total assists.

As a team, Corban shoots 42.4 percent from the floor and ranks 25th nationally in three-point field-goal percentage defense (28.9). After starting CCC play 0-5, the Warriors won six in a row before dropping seven of nine to end the season.

LAST MEETING
In the last meeting between the two teams, EOU shot 46.8 percent from the field and scored 40 points in the paint on the way to collecting a 76-56 win in Salem, Ore.

The Mountaineers opened the game with an 8-0 run, and after the Warriors pulled to within two (15-13), EOU fired back with a 26-10 run to build an 18-point halftime lead to sail to victory.

Dias led four players in double figures with 16 points, while Van Belle added 12 points and seven rebounds.
