No. 8 EOU Drains Program Record 19 Three’s in 101-41 Rout of WWU

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – Behind a program-record 19 three pointers, the No. 8 Eastern Oregon women's basketball team routed Walla Walla 101-41 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play for their seventh-straight win on Friday afternoon.

The Mountaineers (13-2, 6-0 CCC) never trailed in the game, reaching 100 points for the first time this season. The Blue and Gold shot 55 percent from the field and just over 54 percent from behind the arc making 19-of-35 shots. The Mounties broke the previous record of 18 three pointers made, set on Dec. 5 of 2015 also against Walla Walla.

Junior guard Maya Ah You-Dias had the opening basket of the game just nine seconds in as EOU never looked back, scoring the first 10 points. The Mounties scored 32 points in each of the first two quarters to take an incredible 64-28 lead into the halftime locker room.

Despite a 36-point halftime lead, the Mounties upped their defensive pressure in the second half on their way to their seventh-straight win and sixth in conference. The Blue and Gold allowed just 13 points in the second half, limiting the Wolves (2-8, 0-5 CCC) to just 29 percent shooting from the field and 1-for-16 from beyond the arc.

The Mountaineers spread the wealth on offense with all 10 players making at least one field goal and six reaching double-digit points. Ah You Dias led the way with 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting, followed by senior guard Reece Bauer with 15 points and seven assists. Junior guard Maren Herrud had 14 points, senior guard Payton Parrish finished with 14 and forwards Mariah Swanson and Kate Hogan each posted 11 points.

Parrish, Bauer and Herrud each finished with four three-pointers made in the game. Parrish scored the Mounties' final basket of the afternoon, a three-pointer with 1:23 to play that gave EOU both 100 points and a new program record with 19 threes made.

The victory continues the Mountaineers' dominance of the CCC this season with all six wins coming by double-digit points. The 60-point victory is the teams largest of the year.

The Mountaineers will face Walla Walla once again on Saturday looking for their eighth-straight win to end 2017. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
