No. 13 Mountaineers Sweep Walla Walla on Senior Night

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The No. 13 Eastern Oregon volleyball team cruised to a sweep (25-18, 25-10, 25-13) of Walla Walla on Senior Night on Saturday at Quinn Coliseum.
 
Before the match, the Mountaineers (21-8, 15-5 CCC) honored its six seniors, Madisen Garlie, Malia Mills, Emily Nay, Isabelle Statkus, Amanda Miller and Amy Arnzen, who were playing their final regular season matches in La Grande.
 
EOU hit .326 for the match with 42 kills to just 11 errors while holding Walla Walla (1-24, 0-20 CCC) to .160 from the floor.
 
The Mountaineers had an excellent match from the service line, posting 13 service aces. Freshman setter Madison Pilon led the team with four, followed by fellow freshman setter Abby Smith and freshman libero Kiley McMurtrey with three each.
 
The six seniors led the way on the attack as they each record four or more kills. Mills paced the team with eight, along with nine digs, followed by Garlie and Nay with seven each, Miller with six, Arnzen with five and Statkus with four.
 
McMurtrey led the team with 15 digs while Pilon dished out a match-high 22 assists.
 
For the Wolves, Lauren Barlow had eight kills and Nilah Mata'afa posted 11 digs.
 
The Mountaineers will be back at Quinn Coliseum on Tuesday, hosting Northwest Christian in the quarterfinals of the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships presented by U.S. Bank. The Blue and Gold finished the season as the No. 3-seed, losing out on a tiebreaker with College of Idaho for second place. The Mounties will host the No. 6-seeded Beacons at 7 p.m. in Quinn Coliseum.
