Garlie, Miller Named AVCA All-Northwest Region

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Seniors Madisen Garlie and Amanda Miller have been selected All-Northwest Region players, it was announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Monday.
 
Both Garlie and Miller are recipients of the honor for the second-straight season after leading the No. 15 EOU volleyball team to its fourth trip to the NAIA Championships in as many years.

Garlie enters the national tournament as one of the most dominant middles in the nations. The senior currently ranks third in the NAIA in both total blocks with 166 and blocks per set at 1.55.
 
The former transfer out of Oregon Tech has obliterated the program's single season mark for block assists. With 149, Garlie has surpassed the previous record by 25 with at least three more matches to play. The senior was named the co-Cascade Collegiate Conference Player of the Year along with Corban's Alaina Gentili and was also selected a First Team All-CCC member.
 
AMANDA MILLER | SENIOR | OUTSIDE HITTER | KENNEWICK, WASH.
A four-year starter for the Mountaineers, Miller has been selected a member of the AVCA All-Region team for the second year. The senior leads the team with 342 kills, hitting .251 from the floor on the season. The senior ranks fifth in the conference intotal kills and kills per set at 3.3.
 
Miller was selected a First Team All-CCC member for the third-straight year. Miller has recorded 300 or more kills in all four of her seasons, setting the career program mark for kills with 1,348 heading into the national tournament.
 
Garlie and Miller lead EOU into the tournament, with pool play beginning on Tuesday in Sioux City, Iowa. The No. 15 Mountaineers face No. 17 Georgetown on Tuesday at 3 p.m. Central time to open the tournament. On Wednesday, EOU faces Our Lady of the Lake at 4 p.m. Central time followed by No. 2 Viterbo on Thursday at 4 p.m. Central time.
 
The EOU athletic department will stream all three matches of pool play for free in the booster room upstairs in Quinn Coliseum. Light refreshments will also be provided.
