Women’s Basketball Tips Off Season in California

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The No. 7-ranked Eastern Oregon women's basketball team tips off its season at the Bill Holtz Warrior Classic, hosted by William Jessup, on Friday at 1 p.m. in Rocklin, California.
 
The Mountaineers will begin the tournament against Bethesda on Friday before facing William Jessup on Saturday at 7 p.m.
 
EOU will stay in California after the tournament, traveling to Vallejo to take on California Maritime on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.
 
The Blue and Gold are home for the first time this season on Nov. 15, hosting Whitman at 5:30 p.m. In non-conference play, the team will also face Lewis-Clark State twice, Montana Tech, Montana Western and Division III Linfield. The Mountaineers will also have exhibition games at Division II Central Washington on Nov. 21 and at Division I Idaho on Dec. 21.
 
Eastern Oregon begins its CCC season with a rematch of the conference tournament finals against co-CCC Champion No. 15-ranked Southern Oregon on Dec. 2 at 4 p.m. in Ashland, Oregon. The Mounties are home for the first time in CCC play on Dec. 15, hosting Northwest Christian (receiving votes) at 5:30 p.m.
 
The Mountaineers are coming off a 30-5 season that included two wins in the NAIA Championships. The Blue and Gold was the co-Cascade Collegiate Conference regular season champion with an 18-2 record, eventually winning the tournament over Southern Oregon 74-69.
 
EOU was also picked to win the CCC once again in 2017-18 after recording its second most wins in program history a year prior.
 
Led by Second Team All-American guard Maya Ah You-Dias, EOU brings back four starters from its championship team last year. Ah You-Dias averaged a team-high 13.3 points per game a season ago, starting all 35 contests and leading the team in assist (100) and steals (49).
