(RV) Mounties Remain Undefeated in CCC with Draw at C of I

CALDWELL, Idaho – The Eastern Oregon women's soccer team, who is receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches' Top-25 poll, received a point after tying 0-0 on the road at the College of Idaho in Cascade Collegiate Conference play on Friday afternoon.

The Mountaineers (8-2-2, 7-0-1) have already clinched a berth into the CCC Championships, but continued the push for their first conference title with a tie against C of I. The Blue and Gold remained undefeated in the CCC with the draw, but snapped its seven-match winning streak.

"The ladies played hard and we had some nice chances," said head coach Jacob Plocher. "C of I has played everyone in conference very tough and we made out with a point. Anytime you can get points in conference is a good day."

EOU was on the unfortunate side of the match as they outshot the Coyotes 20-6, but were unable to put one past C of I keeper Brittany Houghton, who made 12 saves. The Mounties especially put the pressure on in the second half with a 10-2 advantage in shots. They also led in the two overtime periods 6-2.

The Mountaineers had three players with four shots including juniors Taylor Boyer and Chelsey Nicol and sophomore Nan Kiebert. Nicol and Kiebert each had three shots on goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Cydni Cottrell had her conference leading seventh shutout of the season, making five saves over 110 minutes. The shutout is also her sixth in eight conference matches.

The Blue and Gold stay on the road visiting Rocky Mountain on Sunday at 2 p.m. Mountain time in Billings, Montana.
