No. 6 EOU Volleyball Extends Winning Streak to 14 With Sweep Over Warner Pacific

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Led by a season-high 13 kills from senior hitter Kasaundra Tuma, the sixth-ranked EOU volleyball team looked sharp from start to finish in a 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-18) triumph over Warner Pacific in front of a packed house at Quinn Coliseum on Friday night.

Tuma hit .565 to pace EOU's .347 clip, and she also added five block assists for the Mountaineers. Junior outside hitter Amanda Miller netted double-figure (11) kills for the fifth-straight contest, and sophomore libero Holli Mullins and senior outside hitter Sierra Linke led the back row with 12 digs apiece. In addition, senior setter Rachelle Chamberlain directed the offense with 38 assists to go along with six digs.

EOU (14-1, 7-0 CCC) wasted no time jumping to an early lead, as Mullins delivered an ace to put the Blue and Gold up, 15-4. Junior right-side hitter Isabelle Statkus posted back-to-back kills to make it a 19-7 match, and then Miller ultimately hammered down two straight to close the set, 25-11.

The second set was tight early on before the Mountaineers issued a 10-5 burst to pull away. A Knight (5-4, 4-3 CCC) mishap and kills by Tuma extended EOU's margin to five (18-13), and the Mountaineers delivered a steady dose of Miller, Tuma, and freshman hitter Megan Bunn en route to claiming the frame, 25-18.

Leading 13-9 in the third stanza, Linke and freshman hitter Hailee Ackerman put a pair into the hardwood to kickstart a 7-3 run to bring EOU to the 20-point mark. With a 23-17 advantage, Tuma attacked for two-straight points to seal the match, and EOU celebrated its 12th three-set win of the season.
