HELENA, Mont. – Despite battling (RV) Carroll on the road for 110 minutes, the EOU women's soccer team was not able to pull past the Saints, and the match ended in a nil-nil tie after double overtime.
Coming into the contest, EOU (5-2-2, 2-0-2 CCC) was looking to avenge its shootout loss to Carroll (5-3-1, 2-0-1 CCC) in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Championship last season.
However, much like the title game, both squads battled to a scoreless draw. In this defensive battle, goalkeepers were key for both teams, as EOU senior
Jessica Parker and Carroll's Jamie Carter combined for 10 saves, three of which came from Parker.
Offensively, Carroll and EOU tallied 12 shots apiece. However, the Blue and Gold dominated in shots on goal, 7-3. Junior midfielder
Makensie Forsyth led the way for the Mountaineers, firing four shots – two of which were on goal. Not far behind was sophomore forward
Zoe Anderson, who recorded two shots on goal.
BY THE NUMBERS
7 – Shots on goal for EOU.
3 – Saves by Parker.
24 – Combined shots between EOU and Carroll
