Second-Half Flurry Propels EOU Women’s Soccer Past Evergreen, 2-0

OLYMPIA, Wash. – The EOU women's soccer team returned to its winning ways on Friday evening, as the Mountaineers scored twice in the second half en route to defeating Evergreen, 2-0. The win marked the Blue and Gold's fourth straight over the Geoducks.

While most of the match was a scoreless tie, the Mounties were able to pull ahead of the Geoducks in the second stanza thanks to goals by sophomore forward Alexandria Cuaresma and junior forward Anna Roslander.

Both Evergreen (2-2, 0-1 CCC) and EOU (4-2-1, 1-0 CCC) notched scoring opportunities, but only the Mountaineers could capitalize. EOU dominated in the shot department, 14-5, including 8-1 in shots on goal.

Early in the 67th minute, Cuaresma netted the first goal for EOU, as she sailed one under the crossbar from the top of the box.

The Mounties tacked on an insurance score late in the 68th minute, as Roslander connected with the back of the net from 10 yards out on the right side off the assist from junior midfielder Makensie Forsyth.

Senior keeper Jessica Parker played all 90 minutes for EOU and delivered the lone save of the game. She now has 15 on the year.
