Nicol’s Game-Winner Lifts EOU Women’s Soccer Past Northwest, 1-0

Kirkland, Wash. – In what was a defensive battle for both squads, the EOU women's soccer team was able to sneak away with a 1-0 victory over Northwest thanks to a second-half game-winner by sophomore defender Chelsey Nicol.
 
The game-winning tally came in the 89th minute, as the Mountaineers (5-2-1, 2-0 CCC) capitalized on a Northwest foul before Nicol sank one for the win. Despite the close decision, the Blue and Gold dominated the Eagles in shots (21-11) and shots on goal (9-2).
 
Defense was key for EOU, as the team only needed two saves compared to eight by Northwest (5-3-0, 1-1 CCC). Senior keeper Jessica Parker recorded one of the most important saves of the match, stopping the shot of Eagle midfielder Tiffany Taylor in the 80th minute.
 
EOU reaped three shots apiece from sophomore forward Zoe Anderson, senior midfielder Annie Konrad, and senior midfielder Madissen Ostergaard.
