(RV) EOU Women’s Basketball Breezes Past Multnomah, 84-36

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The (RV) Eastern Oregon University women's hoops team used a dominant effort on the glass and dished out 23 assists en route to racing past Multnomah, 84-36, on Friday night at Quinn Coliseum.

The Mountaineers (17-8, 13-3 CCC) outrebounded the Lions, 62-28, and recorded 23 second-chance points in the victory.


KEY PERFORMANCES
Senior guard Jordan Klebaum paced EOU with 16 points and five rebounds, while junior guard Darian Gasseling added 13 points off the bench.

In addition, senior forward Nikki Osborne posted a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Multnomah saw Sadie Jenks net eight points off the bench to lead the way.


THE STORYLINE
EOU opened the contest with a 13-0 run capped by a three-pointer from Gasseling. The Lions finally connected at the 4:06 mark of the first quarter after Valerie Wakefield nailed a triple, but Klebaum responded with a layup, and then sophomore guard Payton Parrish and junior guard Donniesha Webber drilled three's to close the quarter.

The Navy and Gold held Multnomah (4-19, 2-13 CCC) to just one field in the final five minutes of the second stanza, and as the final seconds ticked away in the frame, Gasseling scored a layup to extend EOU's advantage to 33 (45-12) going into the locker room.

Klebaum drilled back-to-back triples early in the third quarter to extend EOU's advantage to 36 (53-17). Later in the stanza, senior guard Maloree Moss put together a six-point flurry in less than a minute to put the Mountaineers up by 42 (63-21) with four minutes left.

EOU nailed three more jumpers from beyond the arc in the fourth quarter, and the Mountaineers raced to an 84-36 triumph.


STATS OF THE GAME
+34 – EOU saw its second-largest margin of the season on the glass, as the Mountaineers outrebounded the Lions, 62-28.
10 – EOU nailed 10 or more three's for the 10th time this season. The Mountaineers have won each of those contests.
