THE STORYLINE
EOU couldn't have asked for a better start, as junior wing Travis Meeker tossed in a layup and Washington buried a triple to give the Mountaineers an early 5-0 advantage. After missing five-straight to start the game, the Raiders hit five of their next seven shots to build a 15-10 lead.
The Mountaineers tied the contest on three occasions before the Raiders ultimately claimed a 38-35 lead at the break.
A pair of layups by Washington and a bucket by Johanson put EOU back on top (41-40) at the 18:14 mark of the second half, but that would be the squad's final lead of the game.
After SOU responded with a 19-10 burst to snatch an eight-point lead (59-51), EOU managed to cut the deficit to two (59-57) after four-straight points by senior center Christian Parrott and a layup by Strock.
Johanson's layup got the Mountaineers to within four (81-77) with 59 ticks on the clock, but the Raiders went 11-for-12 at the charity stripe down the stretch to seal the victory.
