Lindburg Anchors No. 6 EOU Volleyball Past No. 12 Oklahoma City, 3-0

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Senior hitter Makayla Lindburg rose for a career-high 19 kills, and the sixth-ranked EOU volleyball team overcame an eight-point deficit in the third set en route to eliminating No. 12 Oklahoma City, 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-22), on Friday night at the Tyson Events Center.

Lindburg swung .326 and added nine digs, while senior middle hitter Kasaundra Tuma added 11 kills. Senior setter Rachelle Chamberlain dished out 35 assists, and EOU's back row saw junior defensive specialist Malia Mills and sophomore libero Holli Mullins record 15 and 14 digs, respectively.

The opening set was back and forth, featuring 11 ties and four lead changes. EOU (32-2) took the lead for good after Lindburg booked a kill to make it a 19-18 game. With a 22-21 edge, Lindburg posted the final three points for Mountaineers, propelling the squad to a 25-22 win.

In the second frame, the Blue and Gold used a 14-5 run to snag a 21-12 advantage, holding Oklahoma City (32-5) to a match-low .093 hitting percentage. The Stars ultimately clawed their way back to cut the lead to four (24-20), but Chamberlain found Lindburg for another tally to cap the set.

EOU overcame an eight-point (20-12) deficit in the third set to pull off a 25-22 win and claim its fourth consecutive sweep of the NAIA National Championships. A pair of kills by Lindburg and Tuma, as well as a serve ace by junior defensive specialist Amy Arnzen sparked the rally, and the Mountaineers attained a 22-21 lead after another kill by Tuma. Lindburg popped one over to notch match point (24-22), and then junior outside hitter Amanda Miller carded her third kill of the affair to clinch the victory.
