No. 18 EOU Women’s Basketball Topples Walla Walla, 109-45

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – Despite seeing only seven players take the hardwood, the No. 18 EOU women's basketball team showed no signs of slowing down, ousting Walla Walla, 109-45, on Saturday night at Windemuth Court.
 
EOU (8-2, 2-0 CCC) shot 62.3 percent (48-for-77) from the field and outrebounded Walla Walla, 52-21. The Mountaineers also tallied 34 assists in the rout.
 
Junior guard Payton Parrish scored a season-high 25 points on an 11-for-14 effort from the field, while freshman forward Kate Hogan netted a career-best 24 points and made 11 of her 13 buckets. Junior guards Reece Bauer and Jessica Sexson recorded 17 points apiece, and junior guard Maya Ah You added 11 points and five assists. 
 
Pacing EOU's rebounding efforts, junior forward Stormee Van Belle hauled in a season-high 13 to go along with eight points and five assists, while senior guard Bailey Schroeder chipped in seven points and seven boards off the bench.
 
After missing its first two shots, the Blue and Gold made eight of its next nine to quickly build a double-digit lead. Parrish posted seven straight points to put EOU up 16 (23-7), and then Hogan accounted for six of the Mountaineers' final 11 points of the first stanza to extend the margin to 22 (34-12).
 
In the second quarter, EOU outscored Walla Walla (2-5, 0-1 CCC), 27-8, using a total-team effort to stretch the gap to 41 (61-20) going in the locker room.
 
Baskets by Schroeder and Parrish capped a 15-6 run to open the third quarter, and then Ah You registered seven of EOU's final nine points of the frame to make it a 52-point (85-33) contest.
 
The final margin ended up being the Mountaineers' largest lead (62) of the affair, as the Blue and Gold piled on 24 more points in the fourth quarter, 16 of which came from Parrish and Hogan.
