LA GRANDE, Ore. – Despite chilly conditions, the EOU women's soccer team was determined to send its seniors off with a win over Warner Pacific on Senior Day Saturday afternoon.
The Mountaineers did just that, defeating Warner Pacific (4-10-1, 2-8-1 CCC), 4-0 in what would be the final game home game for four seniors including keeper
Jessica Parker, midfielder
Madissen Ostergaard, defender/midfielder
Annie Konrad and defender/midfielder
Katherine Hood.
EOU (9-5-2, 6-3-2 CCC), got the scoring started early when in the fifth minute sophomore forward
Alexandria Cuaresma netted the first goal of the match off an assist from Hood.
The Mounties scored their second goal of the match in the 21st minute when sophomore
Zoe Anderson connected a shot with the back of the net thanks to an assist from Cuaresma.
The second stanza led to more goals for the Blue and Gold. The third goal of the game came in the 86th minute when junior forward
Anna Roslander sent a pass to sophomore midfielder
Kelsy Neeley who notched the third goal for EOU and her second of the campaign.
Not even a minute later, junior midfielder
Mariana Madrigal tallied the fourth goal of the match and the fourth of her season off of a penalty kick in the 87th minute.
Offensively, EOU outshot Warner Pacific 21-10 including 10-6 with shots on goal. Anderson led the way for the Mountaineers shooting six shots, three of which were on goal.
Parker bagged five saves in nearly 75 minutes of play and freshman keeper
Cydni Cottrell recorded one save in 13 and a half minutes of play.
