LA GRANDE, Ore. – The EOU men's soccer team, surrounded by wet and slick conditions, were led by a flurry of first-half goals that proved to be enough Saturday afternoon, as it defeated College of Idaho, 2-1.
Facing the rough conditions from the start, both teams were at a deadlock tie until the 29th minute as senior midfielder
Cristian Anguiano netted his third goal of the campaign. Coming on to the pitch as a sub seconds before, freshman defender
Enrique Sanchez tallied his second goal of the year just two minutes later for the 2-0 lead.
EOU (9-5-1, 4-5-1 CCC) took this momentum into the half against the Yotes (4-8, 3-6 CCC) while owning a 13-6 shot advantage, including five on goal.
Entering the second stanza with four saves already, senior keeper
Alfredo Lara was two minutes from recording a shutout but Darion Green for the Yotes squeaked one right by Lara for the score.
BY THE NUMBERS
22 – Shots for EOU, including nine on goal.
5 – Saves for Lara
