Box Score KIRKLAND, Wash. – Senior guard Jordan Klebaum became the second Mountaineer to nail nine three's in a game this season, and the Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team raced past Northwest, 81-64, on Saturday night. The Mountaineers have now won 14-straight contests against the Eagles.
KEY PERFORMANCES
Klebaum posted 22 of her career-high 31 points in the second half to carry EOU. Junior forward Ashley Knight tallied 13 points on 5-for-8 shooting, while senior guard Maloree Moss netted 11 points on a perfect 4-for-4 effort from the field. On the interior, senior forward Nikki Osborne pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.
Charmaine Bradford led Northwest (11-14, 6-9 CCC) with 19 points.
THE STORYLINE
Three's from Klebaum and Moss helped EOU to an early 13-2 advantage with 3:26 left in the opening quarter. Miranda Langenhorst tallied five points amidst an 8-0 Northwest run to make it a 13-11 game, but Moss closed the first stanza with another triple to give the Mountaineers some space.
Osborne swooshed a three and Knight scored inside to give EOU a 36-18 advantage with 4:23 left in the second frame, and the Mountaineers ultimately took a 42-27 lead into the locker room.
EOU shot 50 percent (9-for-18) from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes and held Northwest to a 33.3 percent (9-for-27) clip from the field.
Northwest opened the third quarter with an 11-5 run to cut EOU's lead to single digits (47-38), but Klebaum responded with a pair at the line, and then sophomore forward Mariah Swanson converted a three-point play the old fashioned way to spark a 17-8 run capped by three's from both Klebaum and Swanson.
The Mountaineers shot 50 percent (6-for-12) in the fourth quarter to keep the Eagles at bay and seal the 17-point triumph.
STATS OF THE GAME
31 – Klebaum notched game-ball honors after registering a career-high 31 points.
12 – EOU knocked down 12 or more three's for the sixth time this season.
