Women's Basketball Weekly Notes: CCC Semifinals

CCC Tournament
The Eastern Oregon University Women's Basketball team will play in the CCC Semifinals Friday night when they host Northwest Christian, at 7 p.m. PT at Quinn Coliseum. The Mountaineers advanced to the semifinals after defeating Concordia, 70-63, in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. The Beacons upset Corban on Tuesday, 60-59, to advance to the semifinals. The winner will advance to Monday's Championship game.
 
Tickets
Tickets for the CCC Tournament held at EOU will have ticket prices as followed: $10 for Reserved Seats, $6 for General Admission and $2 for EOU Students (with ID) and Youth (12 and under). The first 100 EOU students will receive free admission.
 
Selection Wednesday
By winning the Cascade Collegiate Conference Regular Season Championship, the Mountaineers have qualified for the 2015 NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship presented by State Farm. The NAIA will announce on Wednesday, March 4 all the teams that have qualified for the NAIA National Championship. The qualifiers will be announced by 1 p.m. PT. EOU will also find out who they play on March 4 at 5 p.m. PT when they NAIA reveals their tournament bracket.
 
CCC Regular Season Champions
With the Mountaineers win last Saturday night against Evergreen, the Eastern Oregon women's basketball team clinched their third straight conference regular season championship. This is their sixth conference regular season championship since the 2011-02 season.
 
Looking at NCU
The Beacons of Northwest Christian University enter this matchup against the Mountaineers with a 13-14 overall record. They have won their last two games, both of which came against Corban. The Beacons are led by Melyssa Weber who is averaging 10.5 points per game. She is the only player on the team who is averaging in double-figures. Northwest Christian averages 64.8 points per game, while shooting 38.2 percent from the floor. The Beacons are 5-8 on the road this season.
 
Previous Meetings this Season
The Mountaineers and Beacons split their meetings earlier this year with the home teams winning. On Jan. 16 the Mountaineers were defeated by the Beacons, 70-57, at Northwest Christian. On Feb. 14 the Mountaineers defeated the Beacons, 81-50, at Quinn Coliseum.  
 
Scoring Defense
Eastern Oregon is only allowing teams to score 56.4 points per game, which is the fewest points in the CCC this season. Northwest Christian is allowing 66.6 points per game, the eighth most.
 
Three Pointers for EOU
On the season, the Mountaineers have made 204 3-pointers and are averaging 6.8 three pointers per game. EOU has made 57 more 3-pointers than Northwest Christian this season.
 
Last Game
The Eastern Oregon University Women's Basketball team advanced to the CCC Tournament Semifinals after defeating Concordia (Ore.) University, 70-63, on Tuesday evening in Quinn Coliseum. Madeline Laan led the way for the Mountaineers (25-5) with 18 points, on 8-for-12 shooting. Kassy Larson followed scoring 16 points, as EOU extended their winning streak to 11 games. Maloree Moss rounded out the double-figure scorers adding 11 points.
 
What's Up Next
With a win the Mountaineers host the CCC Championship contest on Monday, March 2.
