Click here This WeekendFriday, February 13 EOU basketball will take on Corban University while honoring Breast Cancer Awareness for THINK PINK night. We invite all fans to wear pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness and the first 60 EOU students will receive a free EOU THINK PINK shirt. Saturday, February 14 we will be showing some love to our seniors on Valentine's Day. Action kicks off at 5:30 when the women take on Northwest Christian with men to follow at 7:30. In honor of Valentine's Day its RED night in Quinn. Fans wearing red will receive $2.00 off their admission and the first 100 fans will be entered to win a free pizza from Dominos. EOU Athletics will be giving away 20 free pizzas.
Scouting the Opponents
CorbanThe Warriors enter this weekend with a 13-11 record and 6-9 in the CCC. Currently, the Warriors sit at sixth place in the CCC. In Corban's last game on Feb. 7, the Warriors defeated Warner Pacific, 75-57. On the season, Corban is led by Cyrus Ward who is averaging 15.5 points per game. As a team, the Warriors are averaging 74.7 points per game, the second fewest by a team in the CCC this season. The Warriors are allowing 68.7 points to their opponents, the third fewest in the CCC.
Northwest ChristianNorthwest Christian University Beacons enter this weekend with a 16-8 overall record and 9-6 record in the CCC. The Beacons are in fifth place in the conference standings and have clinched a spot in the CCC Tournament. In their last game on Feb. 7, the Beacons defeated Concordia, 63-55. On the season, Northwest Christian is averaging 75.9 points per game and led by Austin Kuemper. Kuemper is averaging 15.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Opponents are averaging 67.6 points per games, the second fewest points allowed in the conference this season.
Top Shot Blocking TeamThe Mountaineers are leading the NAIA in total block shots (136) and block shots per game (5.7). Leading the way is
Kalvin Johanson, who has blocked 60 shots on the season. He is six block shots away from tying the school record for most block shots in a season. Johanson is averaging 2.7 blocks per game.
Last WeekLast Friday, the Mountaineers took on College of Idaho in CCC action. The EOU's late rally to upset the No. 5 College of Idaho Yotes came up short on Friday evening at Quinn Coliseum. The Yotes defeated the Mountaineers, 86-83.
Case Rada led the Mountaineers with 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting.
De'Sean Mattox and
Bryan McGriff added 16 points apiece for the Mountaineers.
Deonta Edwards rounded out the double figure scorers for EOU with 10 points.
CCC TournamentThe 2015 Cascade Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Tournament will feature the top eight teams in the regular season standings. Seeding will be based on the regular season standings with the highest remaining seed hosting the round. The winners of the CCC regular season and the CCC tournament earn automatic bids to the NAIA Division II Championship. Five teams have clinched a spot in the CCC Tournament. The Mountaineers find themselves one game out of the final tournament spot entering this weekend.
Senior WeekendThis upcoming weekend, is the last regular season home games for the Mountaineers for the 2014-15 season. EOU will be honoring their seniors, prior to the start of their game.
What's Up NextEOU closes out the 2014-15 regular season on the road as they travel to Northwest and Evergreen on Friday, Feb. 20 and Saturday, Feb. 21. Both games start at 7:30 p.m. PT.
