Last WeekLast weekend, the Mountaineers went 1-1 with a conference loss to College of Idaho and a win over Walla Walla University. On Friday,
De'Sean Mattox scored 33 points, but it was not enough as the Eastern Oregon University men's basketball team's second half rally fell short as the No. 5 College of Idaho Yotes defeated EOU, 94-75, Friday night at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center. The Mountaineers trimmed the Yotes lead down to one point late in the second half but could not overcome the deficit. Mattox was 9-of-16 shooting and 5-of-10 from behind the arc.
Case Rada followed with 18 points to round out the double-figure scorers for EOU. The following night in their last non-conference game of the season,
De'Sean Mattox put the Eastern Oregon University men's basketball ahead by one, 84-83, with 13.6 seconds left against the Wolves of Walla Walla University on Saturday night. Walla Walla had multiple opportunities to take the lead but missed their last two shots and EOU came away with an 84-83 victory.
Bryan McGriff led the Mountaineers with 30 points on the evening and 17 rebounds. Mattox followed with 19 points while
Deonta Edwards added 17 points to help the Mountaineers snap their five game losing streak.
Looking at the Opponents
Northwest ChristianThe Beacons of Northwest Christian University enter this weekend with a record of 11-5 and 4-3 in CCC action. Northwest Christian enters on a two game losing streak as they lost to Concordia, 71-68, in overtime and Warner Pacific, 59-55, last weekend. The Beacons are led by Austin Kuemper, who is averaging 15.6 points per game. He is also the team leader in rebounding, averaging 6.0 rebounds per game. As a team, the Beacons are averaging 77.3 points per game and only allowing 66.6 points per game. Northwest Christian is shooting 50.1 percent from the floor, which is ninth best in the NAIA.
CorbanThe Warriors of Corban University enter this weekend with a record of 9-7 and 2-5 in the CCC. After starting the season 2-1 in CCC action, the Warriors have dropped four straight. Last weekend, Corban lost to Warner Pacific, 69-51, and Concordia, 66-47. Cyrus Ward leads the way for the Warriors as he averages 15.4 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. Corban is averaging 77.3 points per game as they shoot 48.7 percent from the field.
Highest Scoring CCC TeamThe Mountaineers are averaging 85.8 points per game, which is the highest scoring team in the CCC this season. Their 85.8 points per game average is 13
th best in the nation.
Block PartyThe Mountaineers are the best team in the NAIA with block shots on the season. EOU has a total of 104 blocks on the season and are averaging 6.1 blocks per game. They rank No. 1 in the NAIA in those categories.
Double-DoubleOn Saturday against Walla Walla University,
Bryan McGriff led the Mountaineers with 30 points and 17 rebounds for his tenth double-double of the season. This is the second most double-doubles in the NAIA.

Losing Streak SnappedWith the 84-83 win over the Wolves of Walla Walla University, the Mountaineers snapped a five game losing streak.
Perfect at HomeOn Friday, the Mountaineers square off with the Beacons of Northwest Christian at the Morse Event Center. Northwest Christian has been perfect this season at home, as they are 8-0 on the season. Their last loss at home came on Feb. 14, 2014 when they lost to College of Idaho.
CCC Player of the WeekNorthwest Christian's Austin Kuemper was named CCC Red Lion Player of the Week on Monday. Kuemper, a junior forward from Portland, Ore., shot 78 percent from the field, scoring a season-high 33 points against No.14 Concordia. He followed that up with a 22 point performance against Warner Pacific shooting 9-of-12. He also tallied 16 rebounds on the weekend. This was his second-straight week winning the award.
