EOU improved two spots, from No. 13 to No. 11, in the ninth edition of the Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Tuesday. The 10th regular-season Top 25 will be announced Nov. 11.
 
CCC Red Lion Players of the Week
Rachelle Chamberlain and Jessalyn Smith have been named Red Lion Offensive and Defensive Volleyball Player of the Week, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced on Monday. Chamberlain and Smith led EOU to a 2-0 record this week including a victory over No. 11 Southern Oregon. Chamberlain recorded 53 assists to lead EOU to a victory over Southern Oregon, her second fourth match this season over 50 assists. Smith led the Mountaineers defense as she recorded 44 digs including 28 against Southern Oregon. Smith is averaging 5.49 digs per set to lead the CCC and rank 20th in the nation.
 
Last Weekend
EOU swept Oregon Tech 25-13, 25-15, 25-19. The Mountaineers recorded their ninth win of the season and have won 28 in a row at Quinn Coliseum. Casey Loper led the night for EOU with 15 kills and seven digs. Amanda Miller also contributed with 11 kills, three blocks and one dig. Saturday, EOU defeated then-No. 11 Southern Oregon University, 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-21, 26-24). With the win the Mountaineers moved into a tie for first place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings.Kasundra Tuma led the Mountaineers with 17 kills, followed byEmily Nay's 11. Rachelle Chamberlain dished out a game-high 53 assists. Jessalyn Smith recorded 28 digs.
 
Dishing Out Assists
Rachelle Chamberlain is averaging 11.2 assists per set, which is third best in the NAIA. She trails Cayley Meiners (12.3 assists per set) of Coastal Georgia. Chamberlain already has set the single season school record for EOU for assists in a season.
 
Top in the CCC
The Eastern Oregon is on top of the CCC in several statistical categories. EOU sits atop the stats in hitting percentage (.249), assists per set (13.1), kills per set (14.1) and digs per set (16.8).
 
CCC Tournament
The Eastern Oregon Volleyball Team has already clinched a spot in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament, which starts on Nov. 11. Currently, the Mountaineers are tied for the conference lead with a 14-2 record. EOU is tied with Southern Oregon. EOU holds the tiebreaker over Southern Oregon. The top six teams in the regular season standings will earn spots in the conference's postseason tournament, which begins Nov. 11. The regular season champion and the runner-up will earn a berth in the tournament semifinals against the winner of the quarterfinals, which matches the No. 3 and 6 seeds and the 4 and 5 seeds. Quarterfinals will be held on campus sites while the regular season champion will host the semifinals and finals. The CCC's tournament champion will earn the conference's automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship.
