Click Here Yote ClassicFor the second straight season, the Mountaineers will travel to Caldwell, Idaho to take part in Caldwell Best Western Inn and Suites Lady Yote Classic. EOU went 1-1 last season with a victory over Walla Walla, 96-34, but were defeated by Puget Sound, 82-77. This season, the Mountaineers will face Whitworth University on Friday, Nov. 28 and Westminster College on Nov. 29.
Last Time OutThe last time the Mountaineers took to the court was Nov. 22 when they hosted Simpson University at Quinn Coliseum. The Mountaineers defeated the Red Hawks, 88-52. EOU outscored Simpson, 46-18 in the paint en route to the victory. Eastern Oregon was led by
Madeline Laan who scored 24 points, on 8-of-12 shooting.
Kassy Larson followed with 22 points and
Maloree Moss rounded out the double-figure scorers with 15 points for EOU.
Rematch With WhitworthFriday's matchup with Whitworth will be the second time this season the Mountaineers have faced the Pirates. Whitworth opened their 2014-15 season against the Mountaineers in Spokane, Wash. Eastern Oregon was defeated by Whitworth, 67-55, on Nov. 15.
Looking at the Opponents
WhitworthThe Pirates enter this weekend with a 2-0 record with victories over EOU and Rutgers-Newark. Whitworth is averaging 74.5 points per game, while only allowing 46.0 points per game. Leading the way for the Pirates is KC McConnell, who is averaging 18.0 points per game. Jessica Kramer leads the team in rebounding, averaging 8.0 rebounds per game. This will be the Pirates first game away from Whitworth Fieldhouse this season.
WestminsterThe Griffins of Westminster College enter this weekend with a perfect 6-0 record. They have two victories over NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Top 25 teams; No. 14 The Master's (Calif.), 65-57, and No. 23 Hope International, 61-46. Westminster is currently ranked No. 4 in NAIA Division I women's basketball. The Griffins are averaging 68.7 points per game and are holding opponents to 48.0 per game, the third best in NAIA Division I women's basketball. Westminster opponents are shooting 33.5 percent from the field. Leading the Griffins is Tia Pappas who is averaging 15.5 points per game. Pappas is shooting 55.4 percent from the floor this season.
Opening CCC WeekendThe Mountaineers open Cascade Collegiate Conference action on Dec. 5 when they host Evergreen at Quinn Coliseum. The next day, EOU will host Northwest. Both games start at 5:30 p.m.
