Brittney Newcomb scored 18 of her 27 points in the first half to lead the Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team to a 77-71 victory over Whitworth College, Friday night. Looking at Whitworth
Saturday's game for Whitworth is the first game of the season for the Pirates. Whitworth is coming off a 21-8 record in 2013-14. The Pirates have made back-to-back trips to the NCAA Division III National Championships and are looking for their third straight trip this season. Whitworth will have to overcome the graduation of several key players in order to accomplish that goal.  Kayla Johnson, a WBCA All-American, has graduated.  So have mainstays Kendra Lahue and Jamie Lyons.

Rematch
After squaring off this weekend in Spokane, Wash., the Mountaineers and Pirates will play again in two weeks at the Caldwell Best Western Inn and Suites Lady Yote Classic. Whitworth and EOU square off on Friday, Nov. 28 at 4 p.m. MT.
