Box Score KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team suffered its first conference loss since Feb. 10, 2012, when Oregon Tech defeated EOU 58-50. EOU had previously won 29 straight conference games.
The Mountaineers had three players score in double-figures led by
Nicole Redd, who led the team with 14 points.
Brittney Newcomb followed with 11 points and
Payton Parrish rounded out double-figure scorers with 10 points.
The Mountaineers road trip did not start out the way EOU was hoping for as Oregon Tech started the game off on an 8-0 run to start the game. The Owls held the Mountaineers scoreless for the first three and a half minutes of the contest.
Eastern Oregon answered by going on a 15-4 run and taking a 15-12 lead over Oregon Tech.

Nicole Redd hit back to back three pointers to get the scoring started for the Mountaineers.
The Owls battled back tied the game at 15 points. After tying the game the Owls and Mountaineers stayed locked in a tight battle. However, the Mountaineers started to cool off late in the first half. After
Nikki Osborne hit a jumper giving EOU a 24-19 lead, the Owls closed out the half on a 12-2 run. The Mountaineers scored two points in the last six minutes of the half to trail 31-26 at halftime.
Oregon Tech pulled out to a quick eight point lead to start the second half, 36-28, the biggest lead of game after a layup by Kiana Caban. The Mountaineers did not let the lead stay at eight for long as EOU went on 7-0 run capped off by a pair of free throws by Redd. The free throws put EOU down 36-35.
After the Mountaineers trimmed the lead down to one point, 36-35, Oregon Tech began to stretch out the lead again. The Owls went on a 5-0 run to take a 41-35 lead. However,
Payton Parrish answered with a three pointer to trim the Owls lead down to three points, 41-38.
Kassy Larson hit a jumper for EOU putting the Mountaineers down one, 43-42, with 12:20 left in the game. The game remained close for the rest of the game and after the Owls took a three point lead, Newcomb hit a pair of free throws to cut the Owls lead back to one point, 45-44.
The Mountaineers and Owls continued to be locked in a close game. EOU found itself down again by two points, 48-46, but Parrish hit a jumper to tie the game at 48. Less than a minute later,
Nikki Osborne hit a pair of free throws to put EOU ahead 50-48, with 4:50 remaining in the game.
However, the Mountaineers offense went cold as EOU did not score for the last 4:50 of the game and the Owls closed out the game on a 10-0 run to close out the game and defeat the Mountaineers, 58-50.
Eastern Oregon returns to the court tomorrow when they travel to Ashland, Ore. to face Southern Oregon University. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
