Best Western Caldwell Inn and Suites Lady Yote Classic
The Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team returns to action this Friday and Saturday when they participate in the Best Western Caldwell Inn and Suites Lady Yote Classic. The Mountaineers open up the classic by playing Walla Walla University and conclude it by playing the University of Puget Sound.
Scouting the Wolves
This will be the third time the Mountaineers will square off with the Wolves of Walla Walla University. The Wolves come into the contest after falling Whitman University, 83-42, on Tuesday evening. Walla Walla enters the contest with a record of 0-9.
Scouting the Loggers
Puget Sound comes into the Best Western Caldwell Inn and Suites Lady Yotes Classic after defeating Concordia (Ore.), 90-61, on Tuesday night. The Loggers are scoring 71.4 points per game and are led in scoring by Amanda Forshay, who is averaging 12.6 points per game. On the season, Puget Sound is allowing opponents to score 55.4 points per game, while holding them to shoot 33.5 percent from the floor.
Last Time Out
The last time the Mountaineers took the court, EOU defeated Walla Walla, 112-44. EOU opened the game on a 20-0 run and held the Wolves scoreless for the first eight minutes of the contest. Every EOU player who played in the contest scored for the Mountaineers.
Brittney Newcomb led the way as she scored 29 points. Newcomb made seven three pointers in the contest. For the game the Mountaineers shot 57.3 percent from the floor.
112 Points
The 112 points the Mountaineers scored against Walla Walla on Nov. 23, is the most points any Cascade Collegiate Conference team have scored this season. The next highest is 104 points scored by EOU on Oct. 22 against Walla Walla. Those two victories were also the largest margin of victory as EOU won by 68 points, 112-44, and 56 points, 104-48.
Three-Pointers
Eastern Oregon has made 10 plus three pointers in three games this season. The Mountaineers have recorded a season-best 17 made three pointers, on Nov. 23 against Walla Walla. The 17 three pointers made are the most by a CCC school this season. The Mountaineers shot 50 percent from behind the arc on Nov. 23.
