Women's Basketball Weekly Notes: Walla Walla

Scouting the Wolves
This will be the second time the Mountaineers will square off with the Wolves of Walla Walla University. The Wolves come into the contest after falling to Pacific Universitym 86-56, on Thursday. They enter Thursday night's contest with a record of 0-7. Walla Walla is averaging 39.3 points per game and are shooting 27.1 percent from the floor. Walla Walla is allowing its opponents to shoot 50.4 percent from the floor and are allowing 91.3 points per game.

Last Time verse Walla Walla
The Mountaineers faced the Wolves of Walla Walla University on its first game on of the season on Oct. 22. Eastern Oregon came away with an 104-48 victory. Taylor Riley led the way for EOU with 19 points on 9-for-14 shooting and she collected a team-high with nine rebounds. The Wolves struggled to get anything going offensively as they shot 10.1 percent in the first half and 26.1 percent for the game. The Mountaineers shot 54.1 percent for the game and forced 27 turnovers.

Winning at Quinn
Eastern Oregon University has won 27 straight contests at Quinn Coliseum. EOU has won all three of its home games this season and were 17-0 at home last year and won its last seven home games in 2011-12 season. The last home loss for the Mountaineers came on Jan. 7, 2012 when then-No. 22 Corban defeated EOU, 73-59.

Top 15 Ranking
The Mountaineers ranked in the top 15 in the NAIA in a few categories. EOU is no. 11 in three-point field goals made with 53, 12th in Asisst to turnover ratio (1.1) and 12th in scoring defense as the Mountaineers are only allowing opponents to score 58 points per game.

California Trip
Last weekend the Mountaineers went and participated in the first annual Simpson Classic. Eastern Oregon went 1-1 in its two games at the classic. EOU was defeated by Hope International University, 83-50. EOU struggled to get anything going from the floor as the Royals held them to shoot 27 percent from the floor. The Mountaineers rebounded the next night with a, 69-47, victory over Simpson University. Brittney Newcomb led the way for EOU against Simpson as she scored a game-high 29 points.
