Simpson Tournament
Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team heads to Redding, Calif., to play in the Simpson Tournament this weekend. The Mountaineers will play Hope International in its first contest on Friday night and close out its games in Redding by playing the host school Simpson Saturday evening. This is the first annual Simpson Classic.
Scouting the Opponents
The Royals of Hope International come in with a 4-0 record with its last victory on Nov. 12. Hope International defeated La Sierra, 65-60. This is the second straight year the Royals have started the season, 4-0. The Red Hawks of Simpson come into the tournament with a 3-2 record. Simpson's last game came on Nov. 12 when they were defeated by Oregon Tech, 98-53.
Exhibition vs. NNU
Last week the Mountaineers traveld to Nampa, Idaho to face NCAA Division II Northwest Nazarene University in an exhibition contest. EOU was defeated by Northwest Nazarene, 83-82.
Brittney Newcomb scored 38 points for EOU as she hit eight three pointers in the game.
Top in the CCC
The Mountaineers are the top team in the Cascade Collegiate Conference in scoring margin and field goal percentage. Assists, turnover margin, assist to turnover ratio and three pointers made.
