Volleyball Extends Winning Streak To 12

PORTLAND, Ore. – The No. 11 Eastern Oregon University Women's Volleyball team extended its winning streak to 12 straight matches with a 3-1 (25-13, 25-14, 16-25, 25-11) victory over Warner Pacific College.

EOU (18-2, 8-0 CCC) went down early as the Mountaineers gave up the first point but bounced back by scoring the next four points. After taking the lead Eastern Oregon never trailed again in the set and continued to extend its lead. Before Warner Pacific (4-14, 1-7 CCC) called its first timeout, EOU led 9-3.

The Knights continued to make runs at EOU and cut into the Mountaineers lead, but EOU would counter and extend its lead. Warner Pacific called its second time out with EOU up, 22-11, but the Knights had no answer for EOU as the Mountaineers took set one, 25-13.

The Mountaineers jumped out to a quick start in set two. EOU scored the first four points of the set and continued to add to its lead as Eastern Oregon extended the lead to 8-1 before a Warner Pacific timeout.

EOU came back and extended its lead to ten points, 14-4. The Knights scored the next two points before EOU extended its lead back to ten points, 20-10. After trading a few points, the Mountaineers claimed set two, 25-14, and took a 2-0 lead of the match.

Eastern Oregon jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the third set, however, Warner Pacific would not go away easy and the Knights made the third set a back and forth battle. The match was tied at 11 when the Knights started to pull away as they went on a 12-4 run to take a 23-15 lead. EOU had no answer and dropped the third set 25-16 to force a fourth set.

The Mountaineers bounced back in the fourth set as they scored the first four points of the set and eight of the first 10 points. EOU continued to add to its lead at grew the lead to 11, 13-2.

EOU did not let the Knights back into the set and continued to add to its commanding lead. After EOU took a 10 point lead, EOU did not lead the Knights get closer for the rest of the set. Eastern Oregon took set four, 25-11 and won the match 3-1

Casey Loper scored led all players with a game-high 16 kills. Loper recorded a hitting percentage of .682 for the match. Karly Stack dished out 25 assists for the Mountaineers.

EOU returns to action tomorrow when they play at No. 19 Concordia, in the NAIA Match of the Week. The match starts at 7 p.m. PT.
