Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University Women's Soccer team played solid defense and kept the No. 4 Concordia Cavaliers scoreless for the first half. Concordia's high powered offense clicked into gear in the second half and EOU fell, 3-0, suffering its first loss of the season.
Concordia looked to be getting on the scoreboard first in the match. With at the 19:43 mark, Jasmine Ayala sent one in from the top of the box, however
Kailey Moss recorded the save.
Moss stayed busy in the first half as she recorded five in the first half and none bigger than the save at the 25:07 mark. Alex Blalock was got a loose ball in the box and turned and shot a quick reaction snap shot with her left foot on goal but Moss made the stop.
After 45 minutes of action the Mountaineers and Cavaliers went scoreless into halftime.
Concordia broke the scoreless tie in the 57th minute of action. After EOU was called for a hand ball, McKayla Madison had a penalty shot. Madison's shot was saved by Moss but Moss could not control the rebound and Madison came up and put the ball in the back of the net putting the Cavaliers ahead 1-0.
The Cavaliers added to its lead in the 80th minute of the game. Bobbi Eckler took a crossing pass and beat Moss five-hole to extend Concordia's lead to 2-0.
After EOU lost position of the ball on the sidelines, Ashley Ames took a quick throw in and found Hannah Kimsey behind the Mountaineers defenders and raced down the field. Kimsey went one-on-one with Moss and beat her to put Concordia on top, 3-0.
EOU would not get another offensive attack going in the game and suffered its first loss of the season.
EOU returns to action Saturday, Oct. 5 when they play at Warner Pacific. Kick-off is set for 2:30 p.m.
