Box Score La Grande, Ore. - The No. 6 Eastern Oregon women's basketball team defeated Southern Oregon tonight for the second time this season, 89-71, extending the Mountaineers win streak to 15.
Kelsea Hurliman and
Nicole Redd each finished with 18 points. Hurliman also tallied 6 rebounds and 2 assists and Redd had 4 assists and five steals. Teammates Korie Bourn and
Jorie Freeman contributed with 17 and 13 points respectively.
Southern (15-7, 5-6 CCC) was led by Alexi Smith with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Melissa Sweat and Allison Gida each finished with 12 points respectively.
Eastern (21-2, 11-0 CCC) would start the game on a 9-2 run and not give up the lead for the remainder of the game. The Raiders would come as close as a point with 12:28 to play in the first half but the Mountaineers pulled away and took a 38-29 lead into halftime.
Midway through the second half EOU held a 65-48 lead and took their largest lead of the game, 27, from a jumper by Hurliman with just under five minutes to play in the second half . EOU stays undefeated this season in conference play.
As a team, EOU finished the game shooting 46% (36-of-78) from the field and 36% (9-of-25) from behind the arc in an evenly matched game as SOU finished shooting 46% (25-of-54) from the field and 33% (3-of-9) from behind the three point line.
