LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team won its final regular season game over Concordia, 75-62.
The Mountaineers (22-7, 13-5) complete the regular season conference schedule with a third place finish in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings. EOU will host Northwest University in the first round of the CCC tournament Tuesday.
Eastern was led by
Brooke Randall's 16 points. The junior finished 6-of-9 from the field, including 4-for-6 from three-point range.
Kelsea Hurliman added 14 points, making three of her four shots from behind the arc.
Korrie Bourn scored 13 points.
Kyle Miller and
Jorie Freeman each recorded 10 points. Miller grabbed six rebounds and Hurliman threw six assists.
The Mountaineers shot 47 percent from the field, making 11 of their 19 three-point attempts, and 8-of-12 from the free-throw line. EOU threw 27 assists, while committing 17 turnovers.
In a game dominated by the Mountaineers, the lead changed only twice early in the contest, and the score was tied once. Eastern Oregon's largest lead was 29 points at halftime, 50-21. EOU's bench tallied 50 points in the win.
Rachel Scarpelli led the Cavaliers with 18 points, while Courtney May and Kayla Bustos also went into double figures with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Lexi Amundsen finished with a game-high 12 rebounds, seven were offensive.
Concordia (8-21, 4-14) outshot EOU in the second half .366-to-.300. CU outscored EOU 14-0 in points off turnovers and 14-3 in second chance points. Overall, Concordia outrebounded the Cavs 47-34 in the game, including a 23-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. In addition, the Cavs made 18 free throws compared to just eight for EOU.
The loss ended Concordia's season in a tie for ninth-place in conference with Northwest Christian. The Cavaliers ended Eastern's season last year in the CCC tournament semifinals.
The Mountaineers and Northwest (11-15, 7-11) meet for the third time this season, but also for the second straight season in the first round of the conference tournament. EOU eased to a 90-65 win at Northwest last season in the quarterfinals.
Eastern Oregon swept NU this season with an overtime win in Kirkland and a 76-74 win in La Grande. The past six regular season games between the two schools have been decided by a combined 26 points.
