CALDWELL, Idaho – The College of Idaho women's basketball team forced Eastern Oregon University into a season-high 27 turnovers in a 44-40 Lady Yote win.
The Lady Yotes (17-8, 12-4 Cascade Collegiate Conference) hand EOU its third consecutive loss with two conference games left in the regular season. C of I used a late jump shot and pair of free throws to hold off their rivals.
College of Idaho was held to just 28 percent shooting in the first half, and finished the game 32 percent from the field. The Yotes were 2-of-10 from behind the perimeter, but 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. C of I outrebounded Eastern, 33-32. The Lady Yotes committed 21 turnovers.
Tina Fakahafua finished with a team-high 11 points leading The College of Idaho. She was 3-of-8 from the field and Fakahafua made all four her free-throw attempts. She also had four assists and five steals. Laura Geis grabbed eight rebounds.
The Mountaineers (19-7, 11-5) took a 40-38 lead with 3:18 remaining on a
Vintea Georges lay-up, but after a pair of defensive stops, the Lady Yotes began the winning push. Isolating Jones at the top of the key, the junior penetrated the lane, finding Geis for a baseline jumper to tie the score with 1:16 to play.

Kyle Miller missed a go-ahead trey on the ensuing possession, with the Yotes putting the ball again in Jones' hands. The guard whittled the shot clock down, driving just inside the foul line, splashing a step-back jumper for the 42-40 lead.
Eastern tried to respond, but a turnover with nine seconds left gave the ball back to the Yotes, with Katelin Shannon hitting two free throws with three seconds left to provide the winning margin.
The see-saw game had six ties and six lead changes, as the Yotes bolted out to an 8-2 lead on a Geis basket five minutes into the game. The Mountaineers answered with an 11-2 run, including a pair of
Dominique Johnson lay-ups, to take their biggest lead of the night at 15-12.
Leading 21-19 at the break, the Lady Yotes opened a 32-26 lead on a pair of Fakahafua free throws with 11:26 to play, only to watch Eastern score the next six points - including two Georges' lay-ups, to even the score, setting up the wild finish.
Eastern was led by Georges' game-high 14 points. The senior was 6-of-7 from the field off of the bench.
Korrie Bourn had a team-high eight rebounds. Miller had five assists. The Mountaineers were 38 percent from the field, 2-of-14 from the free-throw line, and 4-for-8 from the free-throw line.
Eastern Oregon welcomes Walla Walla University to La Grande Saturday. Tipoff for the non-conference matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m. EOU has defeated the Wolves twice already this season.
