Eastern Women Grab 66-45 Win Over Evergreen

La Grande, Ore. - The Eastern Oregon women's basketball team improved to 5-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play tonight with a win over Evergreen, 66-45.

Eastern (14-2, 5-0 CCC) was led by Kelsea Hurliman with 15 points and 4 rebounds. Brooke Randall and Tina Miller contributed 11 and 10 points respectively, while Jorie Freeman finished with 8 points, 6 rebounds and a game high 7 blocks.

Sammi Clark led Evergreen (2-5, 2-5 CCC) with 17 points and 3 assist. Teammate Danielle Swain nearly missed out on a double -double with 10 points and 9 rebounds.

In the first half Eastern would hold Evergreen scoreless for the first 7:39 seconds of the game. A jump shot by Clark would get the Geoducks on the scoreboard. Evergreen shot just 16% (5-of-31) from the field in the first half, while Eastern shot 46% (12-of-26 ) from the field and 30% (3-of-10) from behind the arc, going into the half up 36-17.

In the second half EOU came out of the locker room and extended their lead to as much as 19 before Evergreen went on a run and cut the  lead to 10 with 9:04 left to play. Eastern counter acted with an 8-0 run of their own to give them a comfortable lead again. Eastern widened the margin to 23 late in the game as they cruised to a 21 point victory.
 
Eastern finished the game shooting 42% (23-of-54) and just 20% (4-of-20) from the three point line. Evergreen shot a dismal 27% (17-of-61) and 23% (4-of-17) from behind the arc.

All Mountaineers would see playing time as the EOU bench would outscore Evergreen 27-16.
