Box Score Portland, Ore. - The Mountaineer volleyball team had another long match tonight as they went the distance, five sets, with Concordia and won by a score of, 18-25, 25-21, 14-25, 25-18, 25-23.
The Cavaliers (15-9, 12-5 CCC) and the Mountaineers (20-6, 12-4 CCC) would alternate wins in the first four sets with the Cavaliers taking the first game.
In an exciting fifth set that saw 8 lead changes, and 14 tie scores, Concordia had four match point opportunities to send the Mountaineers packing but failed to convert. The Mountaineers were eventually able to finish the set 25-23 with a kill from
Alisha Crane followed by a kill from
Taylor Stewart.
After the game head coach Kaki Morehead stated, "Tonight was a tough game for us. Concordia played us really tough and we responded well. Hopefully we can keep rolling."
Stefani Sorenson led EOU with 21 kills, while
Casey Loper, Crane, and Stewart each added 16, 12 and 11 respectively. Defensively
Alisha Crane added 5 Blocks, and Katelyn Duncan contributed with 26 digs.
Karly Stack guided the Mountaineer offense as she recorded 33 assists on the night.
The cavaliers were led by Jackie Stein with 20 kills and Kelsey Kai with 33 digs. Lindsay Mangan had match high 57 assists.
