LA GRANDE, Ore. -- The No. 8 Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team travels to No. 13 Corban University Friday in a battle for the top of the conference, followed by a trip to Northwest Christian University Saturday.

ABOUT THE WARRIORS
Corban University enters the game with a 16-5 overall record and a 10-2 Cascade Collegiate Conference record. The No. 13 Warriors have won six straight games, and 12 of the past 13 games. Corban leads NAIA Div. 2 in blocks per game (7.9), defensive rebounds per game (33.2) and total blocks (167). The Warriors are also second in the country in field goal percentage defense (0.325), third in total rebounds per game (47.1) and assists per game (18.4). Emily Tsugawa leads the nation in total assists (140) and assists per game (6.7). Tara Vanweerdhuizen broke the school record in blocks in a single season. The freshman is second in the country in blocks (87) and blocks per game (4.1). She is also third in the country total rebounds per game (11.6). Katie Steigleman averages 20.0 points per outing.

ABOUT THE BEACONS
Northwest Christian University comes into the weekend 9-15 overall and 1-11 in conferene play. The Beacons are led by Lindsey Shearer's 13.79 points, 9.38 rebounds, 3.88 assists, and 2.96 steals per game. Her steals average leads the conference. She is fourth in NAIA Div. 2 in defensive rebounds per outing (7.6), sixth in total steals (71) and ninth in total rebounds (225). Jess Anderson is adding 10.65 points per game and Aly Bruns is averaging 9.75 points per game. NCU is eighth in the nation three-point field goal percentage defense (0.257). The Beacons are 2-5 inside the Morse Events Center this season. Northwest Christian has lost nine of its last 10 games. NCU went 1-3 last week with a win at Evergreen, and losses against Northwest and Corban.
