LA GRANDE, Ore. -- The No. 9 Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team returns home to host Northwest Christian University and No. 22 Corban University this weekend.

* EOU fell to Northwest Christian for the first time last year, but is 7-1 in the all-time series.

ABOUT THE BEACONS
Northwest Christian enters the weekend with an 8-9 overall record and 0-5 Cascade Collegiate Conference record. The Beacons have lost three straight games with their last victory coming at home over William Jessup, 83-73, on Dec. 9. Lindsey Shearer leads NCU. The junior transfer from Western Oregon University averages team-highs of 14.06 points, 9.29 rebounds, 4.35 assists, 3.1 steals and 0.41 blocks per game. Her 53 total steals is third in NAIA Div. 2, and her teammate Aly Bruns is sixth in the country in total steals as well. Shearer is fourth in the nation in defensive rebounds per game (7.7) and total rebounds (158). She is seventh in the country in total assists. As a team, the Beacons are seventh in NAIA Div. 2 in three-point field goal percentage defense holding opponents to 25 percent.

ABOUT THE WARRIORS
Corban University, the preseason favorite to win the conference, began the season 4-4 but have reeled off six straight wins. The Warriors are one of three teams in the conference with only one loss. Corban opened league play with a loss at Oregon Tech. Preseason conference preseason Player of the Year, Katie Steigleman, has been sidelined with an injury and may not participate this weekend. She is averaging a team-high 21.75 points per game, which is third in NAIA Div. 2. The Warriors are getting an incredible freshman season from Tara Vanweerdhuizen, who is averaging 11.43 rebounds and 10.36 points per contest. Corban is first in the country in total blocks (100) and blocks per game (7.10). The No. 22 Warriors are second in the nation in rebounds (46.6) and assists (19.2) per game as well.
