Rollin Schimmel Scrimmage Saturday in Pendleton

LA GRANDE, Ore. -- The fifth annual Eastern Oregon University Rollin Schimmel Spring Football Game presented by The Order of the Knights of Pythians is Saturday in Pendleton.

The Mountaineers will travel to Pendleton High School once again this season to play their end-of-the-Spring schedule classic. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. Fan are asked to bring their own chairs to the game.

Rollin Schimmel, an EOU and NAIA Hall of Fame member, dedicated his life to the advancement of amateur athletics. Schimmel spent much of his life living and coaching in Pendleton passed away in 2006.

The Order of the Knights of Pythias will be hosting a barbecue after the game again this year. There will also be a silent auction supporting Eastern football after the game. The auction is a big fundraiser for the football program and the money is used for the long road trips in the tough Frontier Conference. All of the baskets in the auction are donated from football families.

There is no admission cost to the game. The spring game will be the 16th workout for Mountaineer football during the spring season.
