EASTERN SPREAD ACROSS A TRIO OF STATES SATURDAY

Eastern Oregon's Robbie Haynie and Dustin Cloud will represent EOU at the Sun Devil Open in Tempe, Arizona, a select group of Mountaineers will be at the University of Oregon Relays, and a large contingent will be at the NNU Invitational. With only one more meet before the postseason, Eastern will look to improve on its already large number of championship qualifying marks.

LAST TIME OUT
Despite soggy conditions throughout the meet, alternating sunny skies, rain, and wind, the Mountaineers were able to record a number of personal records, add another NAIA automatic qualifier, improve an auto qualifier and add a provisional qualifier. There were also several marks that made it onto the EOU top 10 all-time list and some additional conference qualifying marks. On the track, Christine Eckstein ran 2:14.54 to hit an NAIA auto mark, smash her season best by eight seconds and set a personal record. Alma Garcilazo broke her own school record in the same race and improved on her NAIA auto mark with a time of 2:09.55. Garcilazo's time is currently second in the NAIA. In the field events, Anne Barnett finished with an NAIA provisional qualifying mark in the shot put. Her mark of 43'6 1/2" is an NAIA provisional mark and also moves her to second on the EOU all time list. The senior already has an NAIA auto mark in the javelin and a Cascade Conference qualifying mark in the discus.
