ABOUT THE HUSTLIN' OWLS

The Owls (28-4) (16-2) enter the game as the top-seed in the Cascade Conference tournament and the No. 8 team in NAIA Div. 2. Oregon Tech is second in the country in total three-pointers made and assist-to-turnover ratio. OIT is third in the nation in three-pointers made per game. Tech is also in the national top 10 in seven other statistical categories, including a scoring margin of 17.5. Joseph Foster is 16th in NAIA Div. 2 in points per game.

ABOUT THE CCC TOURNAMENT
Top-seeded Oregon Tech used an incredible second half run to cruise past sixth-seeded Corban University in the semifinals, 90-63. Joseph Foster and Brent Johnson combined for 34 points. OIT led by only three at halftime, but stretched the margin behind 74 percent shooting from the field in the second half. The second-seed, Eastern Oregon, clinched the conference's other automatic bid to the national tournament with an 83-73 win over fourth-seeded Northwest University.

LAST TIME OUT
The No. 11 Eastern Oregon University men's basketball team advanced to the Cascade Collegiate Conference championships with an 83-73 win over No. 23 Northwest University. The Mountaineers extended the conference's longest win streak to nine games. Eastern shot 58 percent from the field in the first half, including 8 of 14 from behind the perimeter. EOU held Northwest to 27 percent shooting from the field, and 1 for 7 from three-point range. The Mountaineers had their largest lead of the game at 62-39. EOU finished with five players in double figures led by three players with 15 points. Jason Mumm, Brown, and McCarthy each had 15 points. Brown was 3 of 4 from behind the arc, McCarthy was 5 for 7 from three-point range, and Mumm added six rebounds. Cody Thurmond had 13 points and Travares Peterson chipped in 10.

MILES ABOVE THE REST
With Oregon Tech's win over Corban on Saturday night, Owls' head coach Dan Miles picked up his 934th career victory in his 40th year in Klamath Falls. With the win, Miles moved past longtime Northern State head coach Don Meyer into second-place on the all-time list of winningest coaches at four-year institutions. He trails only Harry Statham of McKendree (Ill.), the only coach in college basketball history to record over 1,000 wins. Miles is 61-17 against EOU all-time.

CASCADE COLLISION

The Mountaineers and Oregon Tech have had battles over the last few years. The 160th meeting between the Oregon Institute of Technology men's basketball team and Eastern Oregon University will feature a pair of top 25 teams for only the 10th time. The Hustlin' Owls have won 95 of the 160 games. EOU has won five of the last six meetings at home, but has not won in Klamath Falls since 1979. Tech and Eastern have finished in the top two of the CCC standings the past three seasons.

A TRUE HOME COURT ADVANTAGE

Oregon Tech's 3,000 seat Danny Miles Court has become one of the hardest places to play in the NAIA for visiting opponents. The court, named after its current record-setting coach, owns a 55-game home win streak. The last team to beat OIT in Klamath Falls was Evergreen State on March 1, 2008, 93-76, in the CCC tournament semifinals. Eastern is 63-7 in its past 70 games at home, Oregon Tech is 67-3. EOU made its first trip to Klamath Falls in 1950.

ONE MORE FOR TWENTY
Eastern has clinched its fifth straight 20-win season. Before the five-year streak, the Mountaineers had four 20-win seasons in the 81-year history of men's basketball, with the last coming in 1965-66. This season's squad became the 20th team to reach 16 wins in school history. The 2007-08 team had the school's best record at 26-6. That team was 17-3 after 20 games, and started 25-4.

MOUNTAINEERS LOVE FEBRUARY
Eastern Oregon has closed the season strong the past few seasons. EOU has gone 22-3 in the month of February the past three years. Oregon Tech is 22-4 in February the past two seasons. EOU also posts one of the best records of any conference team through January and February the past three seasons and this season. The Mountaineers are 53-11 over those two months, while OIT is 54-10.

TOP 25 STREAK CONTINUES
The Eastern Oregon University men's basketball team climbed to No. 11 in the NAIA Div. 2 Top 25 Monday. The Mountaineers climbed two spots after finishing the regular season with a pair of victories at then-ranked No. 18 Northwest University last Friday and Evergreen State the following night. EOU received 270 points in the poll, 18 more than last week. Eastern rides the longest winning streak in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, seven games, into the postseason. Eastern appears in the Top 25 for a school-record 21st straight time. The Mountaineers have been in the Top 25 in 27 of the last 28 polls. EOU has been in the Top 25 in every poll dating back to last season's preseason poll on Oct. 26 when it received votes. The Mountaineers had their best preseason ranking in the 2008-09 season when they started at No. 6. EOU climbed to No. 3 in the national poll that season, the highest in school history.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Three Mountaineers have received Red Lion Cascade Collegiate Conference Players of the Week honors this season. Travares Peterson, Anthony Brown, and Thomas McCarthy each were awarded. Peterson took the award last week, McCarthy was honored for his efforts from Dec. 27 from Jan. 2, and Brown was the recipient for his Jan. 10 to Jan. 16 performances.

LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARIES
Eastern Oregon is one of five teams to have made it to the past three Sweet 16 rounds at the NAIA Div. 2 National Tournament. Two programs in those five, Oregon Tech and EOU, are from the Cascade Collegiate Conference. There are only a dozen teams that have made the national tournament in each of the past three years, including Eastern.
