PULLMAN, Wash. – The Eastern Oregon University track and field team has one final meet to qualify its athletes for the NAIA Indoor National Championships this weekend at the Washington State University Indoor Open.
The Mountaineers will be competing against athletes from WSU, Idaho, Spokane CC, Whitworth, Gonzaga, Lewis-Clark State, Eastern Oregon and Linfield. EOU has qualified 11 participants in the National Championships and has five others as provisional qualifiers.
Carson Hendryx and
Jake Wilcox each are throwing in the men's weight throw at 4 p.m. Friday to begin the meet. Anne Barnett and
Ashlee Michelson will participate in the women's weight throw.
Robbie Haynie will go for his third qualifying event in the men's high jump.
Andy Munsey, Hendryx, and Wilcox all will throw in the men's shot put.
Maddison Stapleton competes in the women's pole vault at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Barnett and Michelson throw in the women's shot put at the same time Saturday. At 2 p.m.
Allison Rodgers participates in the women's triple jump. Haynie and Rodgers then will try their efforts on the track in the 60-meter hurdles.
Kadie Booth,
Cory O'Neill,
Kelsey Kinzer, and Rodgers all run in the women's 60 meter dash.
Hans Rolle and
Kody Coxen attempt the mile Saturday at noon.
Christine Eckstein will follow in the women's mile.
Tyler June runs in the men's 400 meters Saturday at 12:35 p.m.
Talissa Baldovino and
Kimmy Moore follow in the women's race. Roelle and
Ryan Booth run the men's 800 meters, and
Sarah Hanchett and
Alma Garcilazo race in the women's event.
In the 200 meters, June runs on the men's side, and O'Neill,
Kadie Booth, and
Brittany Sims run on the women's side.
Forrest Lumpry,
Terry Johnsen,
Justin Dean, and Coxen will each have their chance at the men's 3,000 meter title.
