LA GRANDE, Ore. -- The latest edition of the game notes for Eastern Oregon University women's basketball is available now. The Mountaineers end the regular season Friday and Saturday against Northwest University and The Evergreen State College.
THE SERIES
* EOU has won 25 of the 33 all-time meetings against Northwest.
* The Eagles swept the series last year by a combined 13 points.
* Before last season's games, the Mountaineers had won eight straight meetings against Northwest.
* Before last season's sweep, Northwest had never put back-to-back wins against EOU together.
* Eastern is 24-2 against Evergreen State in the all-time meetings.
* TESC last beat the Mountaineers on Feb. 16, 2008, in Olympia, 67-63. Eastern was No. 23 at that time.
* The Geoducks are 0-14 all-time in La Grande.

ABOUT THE LADY EAGLES
The No. 23 Eagles (18-7) (12-4) are one of two Cascade Collegiate Conference teams ranked in the NAIA Div. 2 Top 25. NU peaked at No. 16 and reeled off seven straight wins before getting swept last weekend at Concordia and Warner Pacific. The Eagles are a perfect 10-0 this season at home. Kia Gibson is sixth in the NAIA in field goal percentage making 59 percent of her shots. Jessalyn Jackson is seventh in nation in blocks and Northwest is 17th averaging 4.4 blocks per outing.
ABOUT THE GEODUCKS
The Geoducks (5-18) (3-13) have been eliminated from postseason play and currently sit in ninth place. Evergreen is 1-12 away from home this season, but 4-6 at home. The Geoducks have lost six of the last seven and 10 of their last 12 games. Latifa Ward is 10th in the country in offensive rebounds per game averaging 3.88. Danielle Swain is 22nd in NAIA Div. 2 in total rebounds per outing. Eastern Oregon has won 24 of the 26 meetings against TESC.
LAST TIME OUT
The Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team picked up a Senior Night win over Northwest Christian University Saturday, 69-52. The Mountaineers were led by a double-double performance from
Rosebud Guthrie. The sophomore finished with a team-high 13 points and 10 rebounds. Guthrie shot 5 for 9 from the field.
Kyle Miller,
Samantha Flett, and
Kelsea Hurliman each added 12 points. Eastern shot 48 percent from the field in the victory. The Mountaineers made 9 of their 17 shots from behind the perimeter, and 12 of their 16 attempts from the free-throw line. The game featured five lead changes, all coming in the first half, and four ties. The Mountaineers were outrebounded, 34 to 33, and committed 15 turnovers to Northwest Christian's 14. EOU had a 16 to 12 assists advantage over the Beacons.
PERFECT TEN
The Mountaineer women have qualified for the postseason 10 straight seasons.While Eastern will need help to clinch its eighth straight season with a postseason home game, EOU has qualified for the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament for the 10th consecutive season. The Mountaineers sit in the sixth seed right now.
LONG DISTANCE SPECIALISTS
The Mountaineers are first in the nation in three-point percentage shooting 39 percent from behind the perimeter. EOU is 10th in NAIA Div. 2 holding opponents to 27 percent shooting from behind the arc. Eastern has won its games by an average of 12.5 points. Eastern Oregon is averaging 9.0 three-pointers per game, which is seventh in NAIA Div. 2.
Kelsea Hurliman is ninth in the country in three-point field goal percentage hitting 43 percent of her shots.
UNSELFISH MOUNTIES
Eastern is 12th in NAIA Div. 2 averaging 16.5 assists per game. The Mountaineers have dished out 413 assists this year. EOU has a turnover margin of +2.08 and is eighth in the country in assist to turnover ratio.
Alyssa Garro is seventh in the country in assist to turnover margin.
SETTING UP AN EPIC FINISH
The final weekend of the regular season should be quite compelling as several teams are fighting for position in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings. Concordia and Northwest sit tied atop the league with a half-game lead over Corban. Eastern and Southern are a game behind College of Idaho and Warner Pacific in the fourth position which is the final spot to host a playoff game. EOU can go from either fourth to seventh after Saturday's games. To claim the fourth spot the Mountaineers need Warner Pacific and College of Idaho to both lose two, and Eastern needs to sweep its games this weekend.
DEADLY DEFENSE
Eastern has stymied its opponents in 2010-11. Only three opponents have shot over 50 percent from the field in a game versus the Mountaineers. It's No. 10 NAIA Div. 2 defense from behind the perimeter highlights the EOU defensive honors. The Mountaineers are giving up an average of 60 points per game, the 23rd best in the nation. Eastern is first in in the CCC three-point defense field goal percentage (.274), and is second in points allowed per game (60.1), and fourth in field goal percentage defense (.389).
CRAZY CONFERENCE
The Cascade Collegiate Conference has had six teams appear in the NAIA Div. 2 Top 25 rating at sometime this season. That's more than any other conference in the nation. After beginning the season as the preseason favorite, The College of Idaho, was ranked No. 19 in the preseason poll. Concordia took their place in the first rating and was joined by Eastern Oregon in the second ranking, as EOU was No. 24. No team has climbed higher than Concordia's No. 15 rating. Concordia is currently No. 21 in the poll and Northwest sits at No. 23. Corban is receiving one vote.
