LA GRANDE, Ore. – The No. 12 Eastern Oregon University men's basketball team hosts Walla Walla University Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
The Mountaineers (17-5) (9-4) and WWU square off for the third time this season. EOU won the first meeting in the Aramark Quinn Classic on Nov. 6, 88-45 and in College Place on Nov. 17, 65-50.
Jamar Johnson led Eastern in both those games with 18 and 16 points. The Mountaineers threw 25 assists in the first game, and outrebounded WWU, 90-57, in the two meetings. In the first game, Eastern Oregon led by as many as 18 points in the first half, and stretched the lead to 46 points twice in the second half.
Tristan Greenidge leads the Wolves with an average of 15.26 points and 3.91 assists per game. He scored 27 points against EOU in the first two matchups this season. The sophomore has tallied 36 points in his four games against the Mountaineers.
It will be the 26th meeting between the schools and EOU boasts a 23-2 record all-time against Walla Walla. It will be the final non-conference game of the regular season for Eastern. The game is also the first of a four-game home stand for the Mountaineers.
Walla Walla opened the season 0-17 but has won three of its last six and enters with a 3-20 record. The Wolves are 3-4 in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. EOU beat PCAC members, Portland Bible College and Multnomah University, to open this season. Eastern is 29-2 all-time versus members of the PCAC.
Wednesday's tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and will have live video and stats available on EOUSports.com. Fans are encouraged to bring a canned food donation to the game in support of the EOU Food Drive.
