PORTLAND, Ore. – The No. 17 Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team eased to an 81-50 victory over Concordia University to open Cascade Collegiate Conference play Friday.

The Mountaineers (8-1, 1-0 Cascade Collegiate Conference) stretched a 12-10 advantage into a 29-10 lead over a four-minute span in the first half. EOU used that run to pull away from Concordia in a game that featured one tie and no lead changes.

Dominique Johnson and Chayla Jones each scored 14 points to lead Eastern. Johnson was 6 for 9 from the field and Jones was 7 of 10. Korrie Bourn finished with her third double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Brooke Randall added 10 points.

The Mountaineers shot 50 percent from the field in the game. EOU held the Cavaliers to 38 percent shooting from the field and 3 of 11 from behind the arc. Eastern was 5 for 19 from three-point range.

A lay-in from Concordia's Brittney Yates at the 15:12 mark of the first half tied the score at eight. The Cavaliers cut a 12-8 deficit to 12-10 after a lay-in from Gabi Beyer. The Mountaineers responded with a 17-0 run in the middle of the first half. EOU led 39-23 at halftime.

Eastern Oregon opened the second half on a 12-0 run. The Mountaineers had their largest lead, 70-34, after a Johnson lay-in with 7:36 remaining in regulation.

Malori Dixon led Concordia (3-5, 0-1) with 11 points. She was 5 for 8 from the field. Dixon added four rebounds. Courtney May had three assists.

Eastern forced 23 Cavalier turnovers. The Mountaineers committed 19 turnovers. EOU had 22 assists to CU's nine. Eastern Oregon outrebounded Concordia, 48-21.

The Mountaineers stay in Portland to face Warner Pacific Saturday. The Knights (4-3, 1-0) defeated The College of Idaho Friday, 59-51. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Live video and stats on EOUSports.com. Live radio will be on KUBQ 98.7 FM.
