PORTLAND, Ore. -- The No. 17 Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team travels to the Rose City to begin Cascade Collegiate Conference play against Concordia University and Warner Pacific College.

THE SERIES
* Warner Pacific has won three straight over EOU, including four of the last five.
* The Mountaineers lone victory was with a buzzer beater shot in Portland, 54-52, in 2010.

• EOU had its best start to a season in 2007-08 when it was 15-1.
• Eastern Oregon opened last season 10-1.
• The Mountaineers have split their last three opening weekends of conference play.

ABOUT THE CAVALIERS
Concordia entered the season as the conference defending champion, but was picked fourth in the coaches' preseason poll. CU has won three of its first seven games. Megan Padilla leads the Lady Cavaliers averaging 12.71 points and 2.29 steals per game so far this season. Grace Cappelman leads Concordia in rebounds averaging 5.29. Courtney May is dishing out 3.14 assists per outing as well. May is adding 11.86 points per game. The Cavaliers are 11th in NAIA Div. 2 averaging 13.7 steals per game. That number leads the conference as well. Concordia is also averaging a CCC-high 20.7 fouls per game.

ABOUT THE KNIGHTS
Kelsey Mattsen leads Warner Pacific into the 2011-12 season. The senior received the second-most votes on the preseason All-Conference team. She is averaging 13 points and five rebounds per game so far this season. Cameryn Calhoun was also named to the preseason All-CCC team. Nichole Jackson is averaging 6.5 assists per game, which is third in the country. As a team, WPC is first in the conference and fifth in NAIA Div. 2 in assists per game, averaging 18.3. The Knights' 43 percent shooting from the field is 10th in the nation. They are also 14th in the country in assist to turnover ratio.
